The Ram cross country teams competed at the Leon Fox Invitational at the Perry Golf and Country Club Oct. 1. The boys placed eight of 11 teams and the girls placed ninth of nine teams.
“Although we didn’t place as high as we would like as a team, I can’t complain about the times,” coach Jeff Lamoureux said. “Several of our runners had PRs for the meet, with Logan Woodruff breaking the 18:00 minute mark, the first Ram runner to do so in a long time. It was very tough competition at the Perry meet with several ranked teams.”
In the boys race, Woodruff’s finish in 17:59 put him in 12th place. Other finishes and times were Jayden Carstensen, 35th, 19:07; Dakota Mobley, 36th, 19:14; Ethan Frederick, 44th, 19:28; Ethan Larsen, 59th, 20:26; Luis Velazco, 66th, 21;23; and Kolby Angell, 67th, 21:34.
Team scores in the boys race were Des Moines Christian 37, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn 43, Winterset 82, Bondurant-Farrar 119, Ballard 142, Kuemper Catholic 148, Roland-Story 169, Greene County 185, Boone 206, Saydel 317, and Perry 328.
Conner Allender again led the girls team with a time of 25:09, finishing in 51st place. Other places and times were Olivia Shannon, 53rd, 25:20; Makala Kafer, 54th, 25:45; Autumn Stevens, 57th, 28:24; and Sadie Wilson, 59th, 28:52.
